About the JMS Grant Foundation
Awarding Grants to Individuals entering Medical and Healthcare professions, or advancing their professional goals with specific medical educational programs.
The Foundation Mission & Purpose
JMS Professional Health Care Education Grant Foundation (the “Foundation”) operates as a grant-making foundation. All grants provided by the Foundation shall further the Foundation’s general mission of supporting education and careers in various health care fields. All grants made by the Foundation to individuals shall be used by such individuals to further the individual’s educational endeavors in the health care industry (e.g., test preparation costs, entrance exam fees, travel for exams, moving costs to serve rural areas).
To qualify for a grant from the Foundation, individuals must complete the below application and demonstrate financial need and the impact of the grant both on the recipient and the general public. Individuals who are from, and/or practice or intend to practice in, Juniata County, Mifflin County or Snyder County will be given priority due to the lack of qualified health care professionals currently servicing the area.

The Foundation is Committed to Improving Local Health Through Educated Providers.
Once students have achieved their initial goal, many, especially in the medical profession, struggle to meet the needs of their family while seeking specialized education and training.
JMS Foundation’s Grants are structured to assist undergraduate students meet educational needs not covered by scholarships. This may include lab fees, equipment, and travel to clinical experiences. Grants can be used for the costs of preparation for graduate education, included but not limited to application and preparation costs, and testing fees, along with specific items for the educational goal.
We are blessed to have the Lewistown Rural Family Medicine Program in our region. Newly graduated physicians come here to seek advanced training in Family Medicine. They bring families and seek to become not just Family Practice Physicians, but part of our community. The Grants can assist these physicians with costs of childcare, conference costs, transportation, and testing.
